Billy Blue, the man, first came to public notice before the London courts in the late 1700's and arrived in Sydney as a convict in 1801. He was given a seven year sentence for stealing a small amount of sugar. He was thought to have been half American Indian, half African black. He became good friends with Governor Macquarie, not easy for a black ex con, then or now. He began a rowing boat service connecting the south side of Sydney Harbour with the north and was eventually given a grant of 80 acres at what is now called Blues Point. At Blue's Point nowadays, you can't buy the worst house in the street for a million bucks.

Life is Beautiful

Billy Blue began as a magazine in 1977.
It was a lot of fun. The Billy Blue Design School began in 1987.
Then a Hotel Management School and then an English School. Students have come from more than 50 countries.

It gets better every year.

From its infancy as a design magazine, Billy Blue has developed into an innovative educational group with internationally recognised qualifications in Graphic Design, Hospitality Management and English Language.

Our modern and vibrant campus consists of 3 schools: Billy Blue School of Graphic Arts (with currently over 400 students), William Blue School of Hospitality, Tourism & Leisure Management (over 250 students), and Billy Blue School of English (around 100 students). The atmosphere at Billy Blue is inspiring, supportive and multi-cultural. Classes are taught by industry professionals and students leave with the impression that they had great fun while working extremely hard to achieve outstanding results.

Our programs range from Certificate, Advanced Diploma, Associate Degree, to Bachelor and Master Degree courses – with qualifications in the fields of Communication Design, Multimedia Design, Event Management, Commercial Cookery and Hospitality Management. We work in conjunction with two of the best Australian universities: La Trobe University and Swinburne University. All courses are industry-related and produce employment ready graduates. Students every year benefit from our outstanding employment outcomes.

At Billy Blue School of English, students prepare for general purposes, for specific language examinations, or for further studies. We have links with major universities and colleges, who allow international students direct entry into their courses without further tests.

Billy Blue College is located in leafy North Sydney, a lively and sophisticated business district with plenty of food courts and shops around, and close to North Sydney train station. It’s just a few minutes across the Harbour Bridge to downtown Sydney and a bus ride to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
